The Restaurateur of the Year award is given each year to a restaurant operator that is viewed as highly successful in the eyes of other restaurateurs, employees and within the community. Level of involvement in the industry as well as contributions to enhancing the overall image of the food service industry are considered in determining the winner. This year’s winner is Sara Foster, of Foster’s Market in Chapel Hill and Durham. More...

The Lodging Operator of the Year award honors the men and women who manage North Carolina’s 1,600 lodging properties. This person would have demonstrated operational excellence along with making significant contributions to the industry, and the community in which they work.  Michael Martino of the Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center of Durham will be taking home this year’s award. NCRLA’s award for Supplier of the Year will go to Douglas Pearce, owner of Design Food Group. The winners of this award must be viewed as highly successful in the eyes of his or her fellow operators, employees, and the community. Candidates are seen to have made contributions to the industry on the basis of his/her own business ethics and have contributed to the overall image of the hospitality industry. More...

Finally, the winner of this year’s Griff & June Glover award will go to Brad Hurley, owner of 42nd St. Oyster Bar in Raleigh.  The award, named for two of the association’s most dedicated members, the late Griff and June Glover, is given to the person who best exemplifies the Glovers’ distinguished service to NCRLA by going above and beyond the call of duty for the association. This means the winner will have made significant contributions of time and effort in helping NCRLA accomplish its mission of protecting, promoting, informing and improving the restaurant and lodging industries in North Carolina.
